Welcome to the Barooga Botanical Gardens


The Barooga Community Botanical Gardens situated in the main street of Barooga. Established in 1992 and opened in November 1993 the gardens cover an area of approximately 6 acres of manicured gardens, trees and walkways.


Early in 1992 Geoff Brentnall put forward a detailed proposal to establish Botanical Gardens in Barooga on the old cricket ground site. This consisted of six acres of Crown land under the control of the Shire of Berrigan which was being used as a drainage basin for storm wate.r


The outstanding success of the inaugural Carols by Candlelight held on December 19th, 1996 ensured it was run as an annual event ever since. The carols are always well attended with locals and families from afar coming to enjoy the night.

Points of Interest

The Barooga Early Childhood Association provided funds for the initial playground equipment. The play area proved very popular. In 1995 the playground equipment was able to be doubled due to a grant of $3,000 from The Department of Sport, Recreation and Racing....
